Transfer market: OM refuse to keep Ismaël Bennacer!
The future of Algerian international Ismaël Bennacer at Olympique de Marseille now appears to be sealed following the end of his loan from AC Milan.
Arriving last January in the south of France, Bennacer was loaned with a purchase option set at €12 million. But according to well-informed Italian journalist Nicolò Schira, the Marseille club has decided not to activate that clause.
Schira also reports that OM do not wish to make a financial commitment, mainly due to the midfielder’s high annual salary, estimated at €4.2 million. He adds that the player is not part of the club's plans for next season.
Ismaël Bennacer soon back in Milan?
The departure theory is also confirmed by the local daily La Provence, close to the Olympique management, which reports that the club has definitively decided against a renewal, just two weeks after the end of the season.
Bennacer, who notched up two assists in twelve appearances for Marseille without scoring a single goal, failed to truly convince during his stint. A return to AC Milan is now on the horizon, where his future will be reassessed by new head coach Massimiliano Allegri and Milan sporting director Igli Tare.
