Transfer window: RC Lens targets young Burkinabè talent from Ajaccio

RC Lens has activated its scouting department to bolster the left flank ahead of next season in Ligue 1. Among the French club’s targets, one name has been making the rounds more and more in recent weeks: Arsène Kouassi. He’s a young Burkinabè full-back who has been playing for AC Ajaccio since 2021.

Spotted by Lens sporting director Diego Lopez during a trip to Timizzolu, the 20-year-old has impressed with his maturity and potential. Born on September 11, 2004, in Cocody, Ivory Coast, Arsène Kan Guy Kouassi holds both Ivorian and Burkinabè nationalities.

Arriving at Ajaccio in 2021 after coming through the ranks at New Stars FC, he climbed the ladder at the Corsican club, moving from the U19s to the reserves before signing his first professional contract in September 2024, tying him to ACA until 2027. His market value, estimated at €800,000 by Transfermarkt, continues to rise thanks to his standout performances.

This season, Arsène Kouassi has emerged as one of Ligue 2’s brightest revelations. He has played 22 matches and provided 2 assists in Ligue 2. Standing 1.78 meters tall, he impresses with his physical attributes and consistency—qualities that are sure to attract the attention of other European clubs soon.
