Transfer window: Thomas Müller and Bayern, the end of an era!
According to the German press, Thomas Müller and Bayern Munich are set to end their long and fruitful relationship. The Bavarian giant has reportedly informed its legend that his contract will not be extended at the end of the season.
With 742 appearances, 247 goals, and 273 assists, Müller is the most capped player in Bayern's history. At 35, his role has evolved, becoming more of an experienced leader than an undisputed starter.
This season, under Vincent Kompany's management, the Nationalmannschaft sharpshooter has started only 8 of the 23 Bundesliga matches, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
Bayern to save over €20M!
This potential departure comes as Bayern embarks on a new chapter. While Manuel Neuer seems close to extending his stay, Thomas Müller might be leaving. Ending his contract will allow the club to save over 20 million euros annually.
Kicker reports that Müller expressed a desire to continue for one more season, but the management made a decision during the last international break. The club might, however, offer him a role in the management team.
It remains to be seen whether the Bavarian icon will embrace this opportunity or take on one last challenge abroad, in MLS or elsewhere.
Either way, a memorable chapter in Bayern's history seems about to close.
