Transfer window: Victor Orakpo closing in on Montpellier move

Barring any last-minute twists, young Nigerian talent Victor Orakpo is set to join Montpellier in Ligue 2.

Victor Orakpo is expected to temporarily leave OGC Nice. Arriving in 2024 from VOE Football Academy in Nigeria, the Nigerian international got his first taste of French football and its demands during the 2024-2025 season, making four Ligue 1 appearances and featuring once in the Europa League.

His debut season was disrupted by a groin injury in the autumn, which hampered the remainder of his campaign.

To aid the 19-year-old's development, OGC Nice is reportedly preparing to loan him out to Ligue 2, according to L’Équipe, where he can gain valuable experience. His likely destination is none other than Montpellier, freshly relegated to France’s second tier.

Victor Orakpo completed his medical examination this Monday.
