Trent Alexander-Arnold Completes Real Madrid Move Before Club World Cup
Real Madrid have officially secured the signing of Liverpool right back Trent Alexander Arnold following intense negotiations in recent days.
Why Madrid Rushed the Deal
Although Alexander Arnold’s contract with Liverpool expires at the end of Jun and his departure'd already been confirmed, Real Madrid accelerated talks to ensure his participation in the upcoming 2025 fifa Club World cup.
The new look tournament will feature 32 club and runs from 14 Jun to 13 Jul in the United States. Madrid are drawn in Group H with Al Hilal (Saudi Arabia), Red Bull Salzburg (Austria) and Pachuca (Mexico).
€10 Million Fee to Speed Up Transfer
According to The Athletic, Los Blancos agreed to pay Liverpool 10 million euro to release Alexander Arnold early, effective 1 Jun. Despite Liverpool having no more fixtures, the club was determined to keep the player until his contract expired on 30 Jun.
The Reds finally accepted the offer after the 25 year old rejected all contract extension proposals.
Real Madrid's now officially confirmed that Arnold will be part of their squad for the Club World cup.
