Tunisian Cup: The refereeing committee puts its trust in local officials!

The National Refereeing Committee announced on Wednesday, May 14, that all remaining matches in the Tunisian Cup — quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final — will now be officiated exclusively by Tunisian referees.

After previously allowing the use of foreign referees for certain high-profile fixtures, the Committee, chaired by Algerian Djamel Haimoudi, has decided to rely solely on local officials for the rest of the tournament.

In an official statement, the National Refereeing Committee clarified:

"As we approach the final stages of all competitions, the National Refereeing Committee, since its inception, has been committed to establishing a climate of trust among all stakeholders, ensuring fairness between clubs, and guaranteeing the integrity and tranquility of the competitions.

After opening the door to appointing foreign referees, notably for the first leg of the derby, and in the interests of balance between the various clubs, these appointments were made at the request of the teams involved and according to specific procedures.

However, convinced of the importance of supporting Tunisian refereeing and building a corps of officials capable of shining on the international stage, the National Refereeing Committee has decided to assign all remaining Tunisian Cup matches to local referees.

The Committee calls on all clubs and their supporters, across all divisions, to support Tunisian referees and help foster a climate of trust among all stakeholders in Tunisian football.

The Committee is actively working towards the establishment of modern, independent refereeing, drawing lessons from past experiences to serve the development and international standing of national refereeing, both locally and globally."
