Two American players win the FA Cup with Crystal Palace!
The Eagles, Crystal Palace, won their first trophy of their long footballing career with a 1-0 FA Cup win over Manchester City this evening, leaving Pep Guardiola's side without any trophies for the season, and making a name for themselves.
But it was also a historic moment for two USA players as Oliver Gilsner managed to create these special moments for all his players and Chris Richards and Matt Turner were among the players who were able to write this new history for their country with Crystal Palace.
The bigger picture of what happened!
Chris Richards started the game for his team in the final and played the full 90 minutes to contribute to this crown directly, a first half goal from Englishman Eberechi Eze was enough for the team to win the title as they benefited from Manchester City missing a penalty that was triggered by Egyptian player Omar Marmoush.
Matt Turner had to settle for being on the bench for the entire game, but in the end, he was part of the team that won the title and celebrated with them.
Which U.S. player has held this title before them?
Before Chris Richards and Matt Turner, superstar Tim Howard won the title in 2004 with Manchester United, making the USA's legacy in this tournament clear.
