The opening match of Group B in the UFOA-A qualifying tournament for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium ended in a draw.
Mali and Liberia were unable to break the deadlock, with the match finishing 1–1. The two sides went into the break with the score goalless. It was not until the second half that the nets were rattled at both ends.
An open Group B
With this result, Mali and Liberia are level on points. Group B is now down to three teams following Guinea-Bissau’s disqualification for age fraud. Guinea completes this group but has not yet played. Their first match was due to be against Guinea-Bissau. The Guineans will therefore have to wait until the second matchday to kick off their campaign. They will face Liberia.
