Just four minutes into the second half, Souleymane Commissaire Faye doubled the lead, again on an assist from Amsatou Diouf. Mamadou Bangoura then took charge of the play, delivering a delightful pass to Cheikh Oumar Sy, who scored his second goal in the 68th minute. The final goal came from Amadou Ndiaye, who entered the game in the second half, to seal the 4-0 victory.
Senegal Leads Group A
With these first three points, the Lionceaux have gotten off to a perfect start in this qualifying tournament and in their bid to defend their title. Winners in 2024 and 2025 and the reigning African champions, they are already showing their ambitions. Pending the result of the Gambia vs. Sierra Leone match, Senegal sits atop Group A and is sending a strong message to the competition.
