U-17 Women's World Cup (Q): Benin shows no mercy against DR Congo

Mission accomplished for Benin's U-17 Amazons. Facing the DR Congo's U-17 Leopards Ladies in the second round of the U-17 Women's World Cup qualifiers, they left no room for doubt. A clear and undisputed victory (3-0) this Sunday in Kinshasa, following a 2-0 win in the first leg. A total score of 5-0, synonymous with qualification for the final round.

Dominant over both encounters, the Beninese never faltered. DΓ©o-Gratias Ebi opened the scoring as early as the 22nd minute, rewarding her team's serious start. In the second half, Romaine Gandonou (63rd) and Labylle Etchou (65th) sealed the fate of the Leopards Ladies, who were unable to respond. Aggregate score: 5-0.

Final hurdle: Zambia

The next challenge promises to be formidable. To secure their ticket to the U-17 World Cup in Morocco (October 17 - November 8, 2025), the Amazons will have to face Zambia, who ousted Tanzania (3-0, 1-0). The double-header is scheduled between April 18 and 27.

Against a team that participated in the last edition of the tournament, Benin will need to elevate their game. But following their convincing performance against DR Congo, the Amazons can believe in their chances of writing a historic chapter in Beninese women's football.
