Uncertainty Grows: UCL Finalists Face Exclusion from Club World Cup
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo's raised concerns over bizarre twist that could hit the inaugural 32 team Club World Cup in the United States this summer with 50% chance that neither finalist from the Champions League will be part of the tournament.
UCL giants possibly excluded
The paper explained that Barcelona & Arsenal both in the Champions league semi finals, aren't currently among the qualified clubs for FIFA’s revamped Club World cup, set to run from 14 Jun to 13 Jul 2025.
If Barca beat Inter Milan & Arsenal overturn PSG, the european champions might miss the global showpiece, due to fifa’s current qualification rules based on previous seasons.
Star power missing the stage?
The report also warned that global talents like Lamine Yamal, Pedri and Raphinha , all of whom have earned widespread acclaim this season , could be absent from the tournament impacting FIFA’s ambitions to elevate its prestige.
Infantino sides with Inter
