Utaka Inspires Super Eagles: ‘Let’s Rise and Conquer Group C!’

Former Nigerian international John Utaka's urged the super eagles not to give up on their dreams of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite challenging campaign that has left them in precarious position.

Nigeria currently 4th in Group C with 7 point, failed to capitalize on golden opportunity last month, settling for 1 - 1 draw with Zimbabwe after throwing away late lead.

While they managed 2 - 0 win over Rwanda, the dropped points have made the road to the world cup significantly more difficult.

Utaka: “We Must Not Give Up”

Speaking to Brila FM, Utaka who earned 44 caps & scored 6 goal for Nigeria expressed disappointment at the team’s current standing but emphasized that all isn't lost:

“With the kind of talent we've, we shouldn’t be in this position. We need to come together and stay focused on achieving our World Cup dream. We must be determined like other countries”

“In football anything can happen. We shouldn’t give up. I still believe we can qualify but it all depends on how we approach the games ahead”

• South Africa 13 points
• Benin 8 points
• Rwanda 8 points
• Nigeria 7 points

With only one win from 6 games, now needs to win all of their remaining 4 fixtures and hope other group leaders drop points to stand chance of qualification.
