Valencia coach on why Sadiq Umar's playing time is short!
Since his move to Valencia from Real Sociedad on 1 January, Sadiq Umar has only been given the chance to play 90 minutes twice for the club.
What has the Nigerian brought to the team since his arrival at Estadio de Mestella!
The striker has been in fine form in La Liga since his arrival, scoring five goals in La Liga, most recently against Rayo Vallecano in a game that ended in a 1-1 draw.
Despite his few appearances, the Nigerian striker played more in the second half of the season for Valencia than he did for Real Sociedad in the first part of the season, 2024-2025.
Speaking about his striker's circumstances, coach Carlos Corberan said:
At no point has this club placed any limits on any player. In fact, in the Real Sociedad game, it was an injury that prevented Sadiq from playing. Imagine the level of commitment we have to achieving the objective. I’ve never had any limitations; quite the opposite.

Valencia had previously struggled to escape relegation. But now, as of this moment, they are just six points away from qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
It’s not possible to talk about any new objectives without having achieved the first one yet. The team have to keep adding points, and there is a lot of work ahead. The target will require a lot of effort and dedication.
“I came here in a situation of extreme need and with the absolute commitment to give my all to the cause we had, and I give that every minute. The squad do as well.
“There’s been a very important reaction from them in terms of generosity, dedication, and fighting spirit, defending the values of this club and giving our all so that our fans can regain joy and identification with the team.
Carlos Corberan concluded.
