Wagner Pina signs with AJ Auxerre

AJ Auxerre has secured its first summer signing—and it's a significant one. The Burgundy club has won the race for Wagner Pina, the young Cape Verdean right-back who was previously linked with moves to Lens and even Galatasaray.

At just 22 years old, Wagner Pina arrives from Estoril in Portugal, where he made a name for himself as one of the league's most promising defenders. According to the daily A Bola, Auxerre's offer exceeds €3.5 million—a bold investment for such an explosive and modern player profile.

The Cape Verde international (under contract until 2027) still has plenty of room to grow. Fast and aggressive in the best sense of the word, he's also adept at surging forward and making a difference down his flank. It's up to AJA to provide the environment for him to truly explode onto the scene.
