What Mikel Arteta had to say about Tottenham's achievement!
The win ended Tottenham's 17-year wait for a major trophy and was the team's first European title since 1984.
Speaking about Tottenham Hotspur's difficult season domestically compared to other teams, the Spaniard said:
Just congratulate them. I think they are champions, and when you get to that, you have to do a lot of things right. I think they have gone through a season with again a lot of obstacles and difficulties, and they have helped them at the end to manage a beautiful moment.
So you have to congratulate. This is a sport and I am sure they have done everything in their hands to achieve it and they are very happy.
Mikel Arteta said.
Winning the Europa League is a great success, but by contrast Tottenham's domestic season has been abysmal by any measure, with 21 Premier League losses and a 17th place finish, their worst ever in the history of the Premier League.
Asked about the comparison between his team and Tottenham, he said: “I don’t like to compare with other teams. I need to analyse my team. That’s my job.”
