The prestigious German weekly Kicker has published the results of its traditional annual poll, conducted among 216 players from various Bundesliga clubs. The players were given complete freedom to name who they believe is the best striker in the world for the 2024-2025 season.

To everyone's surprise, it was the young Spanish prodigy Lamine Yamal, winger for FC Barcelona, who was named the best striker, outpacing several global superstars.

Despite his youth, Yamal shone brightly this season. With 18 goals and 25 assists in 55 matches across all competitions, he played a pivotal role in Barça's treble-winning campaign: La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.

In other categories, Virgil van Dijk was named best defender with 27.3% of the vote, while Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma topped the keepers' category with exactly the same percentage.
