Following the news that Jose Rivero could be leaving the Orlando Pirates at the end of the season, rumours and speculation have begun to fly as to who will take over as head coach after the season.

Orlando Pirates coaching options!

As the season draws to a close, a lot of speculation and rumours have surfaced as potential options to take over the Bucaners' technical management, which in itself is a huge responsibility.

A source revealed to Soccer Laduma a lot of details about the process by which the management is looking for a suitable option to take over the job.

Carlos Nodar Paz, an assistant coach and fitness specialist, could be an option to take over as head coach when Jose Rivero leaves the club.

While Pirates are expected to launch a thorough process to appoint a new head coach ahead of the 2025/26 season, insiders have revealed that continuity could play a key role in that decision.

Informed source revealed.

Among those being considered is Paz, Riveiro’s compatriot, who joined the club at the beginning of the current season. Although his role is primarily fitness-focused he is no stranger to coaching, having previously worked as an assistant coach and youth coach in various parts of the world.

Orlando Pirates want to sign Pitso Mosimane!

Albert "Bashin" Mahlangu, speaking to Robert Marawa on 947, stated that Mosimane is the ideal candidate. Shortly after, another ex-Pirates star, Mpho Makola, told FARPost that the former Mamelodi Sundowns, Bafana Bafana, and Al Ahly coach possesses the necessary experience and quality to build on José Riveiro’s work.

Mosimane, who previously played for Orlando Pirates during his career, has been a free agent since leaving Iran’s Esteghlal FC in December 2024. Currently in South Africa, he holds the record as the Premier Soccer League’s most successful coach with five league titles. Additionally, he is the most decorated African coach, having won the CAF Champions League three times.

In related news, another former Pirates coach, Rulani Mokwena, has also been linked with the club. The current Wydad Casablanca manager and his agent have confirmed that he will depart the Moroccan giants at the end of the season.
