Will Real Sociedad keep Nayef Aguerd?

Nayef Aguerd, on loan this season from West Ham to Real Sociedad, sees his future in the Basque Country growing increasingly uncertain. While the Spanish club had hoped to extend his stay, an injury sustained against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey has thrown those plans into disarray.

His extended absence has only fueled speculation, especially as club president Jokin Aperribay dodged questions when pressed on the matter. "We’ll see. We’re not at that point yet. We haven’t spoken about it yet. We’ll see if he can stay or not," he said tersely at a press conference.

There’s another cloud hanging over the club: European qualification. Real Sociedad are struggling to secure a place on the continental stage, which could jeopardize both their sporting ambitions and financial plans. For now, Nayef Aguerd remains under contract with West Ham until June 2027. Unless something changes dramatically, his future seems set to unfold far from San Sebastián.
