In their clash with Iraq in Philadelphia, the French national team netted their 140th goal in World Cup history since their very first appearance back in 1930. A symbolic milestone achieved in their seventeenth tournament appearance.

Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring as early as the 14th minute. The Real Madrid striker notched his third goal of the tournament, following his brace against Senegal. This also raised his overall tally to 15 World Cup goals, narrowing the gap to just four goals behind Lionel Messi, the new record holder.
