World Cup 2026 (Q): Liberia's squad list for the clash against Tunisia

As the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in the Africa Zone approach, Liberia's coach, Thomas Kojo, announced a 24-man squad this Saturday for the upcoming matches. The Lone Stars will host Tunisia on March 19 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia at 16:00 GMT, before facing São Tomé and Príncipe at the same venue on March 24 at the same time.

The comeback of Augustine Otu

Among the highlights of this selection, the return of Augustine Otu is particularly noteworthy. The 26-year-old forward, absent from the national team since 2019, makes his comeback full of confidence.

Currently shining with Tersana SC in Egypt, the Liberian striker has scored 11 goals in the league and is closing in on the top of the scoring charts. His performances have convinced Kojo to give him another chance.

A mix of experience and new faces

The coach has included 13 players plying their trade abroad and 11 from the local league.

Several new faces have been called up to the squad, including Nicholas Andrews, Josiah Cea, Morris Konneh, Bryan Farkarlun, and of course, Augustine Otu, who will be making their senior team debuts.

Notable absences

Despite this strengthened squad, some key players will be missing. Mohammed Sangare and Brem Soumaoro were not selected, while Mohamed Kamara declined the invitation for personal reasons.

Below is the list of the 24 called-up players:

  • Goalkeepers: Tommy Songo, Abdulai Koulibaly, Junior Yeanay
  • Defenders: Sampson Dweh, Prince Balde, Mark Pabai, Eugen Swen, Sebastian Teclar, Nelson Laomie
  • Midfielders: Divine Teah, Murphy Oscar Dorley, Sheikh Sesay, Bryant Farkarlun, Justin Salmon, Nohan Kenneh, Solomon Tweh, Edward Ledlum, Abdulai Bility, Morris Konneh, Josiah Cea, Nicholas Andrews
  • Forwards: Augustine Otu, Ayoub Kosiah, William Gibson

With this balanced mix of youth and experience, Liberia hopes to make a significant impact against the Eagles of Tunisia.
