World Cup 2026 (Q): Mounié reveals the Cheetahs' secret to breaking Zimbabwe and South Africa
The Benin Cheetahs' striker, Steve Mounié, recently unveiled the plan crafted with his teammates to overcome Zimbabwe and South Africa during this international break in March 2025.
The Benin Cheetahs have two crucial matches to play during this March international break. Gernot Rohr's men will face Zimbabwe and South Africa on the 5th and 6th matchdays of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Currently 3rd in Group C with 7 points, Benin needs good results against its next two opponents to climb to the top of the standings.
This goal is certainly challenging, but not impossible. At least, that's what Steve Mounié confidently asserts. The team captain recently unveiled the tactical plan designed to dismantle their opponents. "We need to be united. If we play as a team, without trying to shine individually, we can unsettle several opponents. If we manage to adhere to this principle, we can go far," he declared.
The Cheetahs first play Zimbabwe's Warriors on March 20 at 4 PM GMT before taking on South Africa's Bafana Bafana five days later at the same time as the previous match.
