World Cup 2026 (Q): Senegal faces a major challenge against Sudan

Senegal is gearing up for a decisive match this Saturday, March 22, against Sudan on the fifth day of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

A high-stakes confrontation for the Lions of Teranga, currently third in Group B with 8 points, behind the Falcons of Jediane, who lead with 10 points.

A mixed journey for Senegal

Despite their status as African champions, Senegal is struggling to convince in these qualifiers. With only two wins and two draws, Pape Thiaw's men must win to stay in the race for direct qualification.

An extra pressure that could weigh heavily on Sadio Manรฉ and his teammates.

Sudan, the surprise team

On the other side, Sudan impresses. After a draw against Togo, the Falcons of Jediane have chained three major victories, including a resounding win against the DRC.

With a solid defense conceding only one goal and an effective attack, James Kwesi Appiah's men are not planning to stop now. A historic qualification for the World Cup has never seemed so close.

An imperative victory for the Lions

For the Lions of Teranga, the equation is simple: victory is imperative. Any other result would seriously complicate their chances of qualification. Conversely, another victory for the Sudanese would put them in an ideal position to secure their World Cup ticket.

It is important to note that the match will be played at the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Libya, a ground where Sudan has already built part of its recent successes.

The kick-off will be given in an electric atmosphere, where every move will count in this battle for supremacy in Group B.
