Defeated by the Carthage Eagles, the Lone Stars are in 3rd place in Group H with only 7 points.

Through an official statement, the Liberian Ministry of Youth and Sports announced that it has requested the Football Federation to file a complaint with the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) against Ivorian referee Kpan Clement Franklin who officiated the match against Tunisia.

Furthermore, they have requested to replay the match in accordance with the principles of fairness and integrity, claiming that the Liberian team was denied two penalties.

A new South Africa vs Senegal case

In 2017, FIFA ordered the replay of the match between South Africa and Senegal, part of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Involved in a match-fixing scandal, Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey wrongfully penalized Senegal in a premeditated manner. FIFA decided at the time to suspend him for life.
