Kylian Mbappé continues to etch his name in the annals of world football history. Thanks to his brace in France's 3-1 victory over Senegal at the 2026 World Cup, the French striker has now tallied 14 goals in World Cup finals, drawing level with German legend Gerd Müller for third place in the competition's all-time scorers chart.

The second goal against Senegal allowed the Les Bleus captain to reach yet another milestone in an already extraordinary career. With 14 goals in just 15 World Cup matches, Mbappé boasts a remarkable strike rate, now trailing only Ronaldo Nazário (15 goals) and Miroslav Klose (16 goals).

This achievement adds to another historic night for the 27-year-old forward. By netting his 58th goal for the French national team, he became the all-time top scorer for France, surpassing the previous record held by Olivier Giroud.

Exceptional consistency on the world stage

Since making his World Cup debut in 2018, Mbappé has found the back of the net in every edition he's played. He scored four goals in Russia in 2018, eight in Qatar in 2022, and has already notched two in the 2026 tournament.

With several matches still to play in this tournament, the French striker is now in prime position to chase down the records held by Ronaldo and Klose. At this rate, the title of World Cup all-time top scorer could soon have a French accent.
