Wydad announces three high-profile signings for the 2025 Club World Cup!
With the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup approaching—set to take place in the United States in a brand new format—the qualified clubs are kicking off their preparations. Wydad Athletic Club, a leading representative of Morocco, is already making headlines in the transfer market with some top-tier additions.
Three new signings for Wydad ahead of the Club World Cup
The club president, Hicham Aït Menna, has officially confirmed the arrival of three high-caliber players. These new recruits bring both international experience and undeniable technical quality.
The newcomers are: Nordin Amrabat, the Moroccan international who previously played for Hull City in England; Hamza Hannouri, former striker for FUS Rabat; and Aziz Ki, a Burkinabè midfielder widely regarded as one of the top talents at Tanzanian side Young Africans.
These fresh signings are part of a clear strategy: to strengthen the squad and approach the global competition with ambition and resilience. Wydad will compete in Group G alongside Manchester City (England), Juventus (Italy), and UAE club Al-Ain.
Fully aware of the high calibre of their opponents, the Moroccan club has lined up two prestigious friendlies: one against Sevilla FC (Spain), followed by a clash with FC Porto (Portugal). Both matches will be hosted at Wydad’s home ground, the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
The club will kick off its group stage campaign on June 18 against Manchester City at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Next up is a showdown with Juventus on June 22, again in Philadelphia. Wydad will wrap up this first phase with a much-anticipated encounter against Al-Ain on June 26 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C.
