Yassin Marei set to join Al-Ahly: a strategic defensive reinforcement!
Reliable media sources have revealed in recent hours that the management of Al-Ahly Cairo has decided to bolster its defensive line by signing Yassin Marei, the central defender from Pharco FC, during the 2025 summer transfer window.
According to a source close to the Red Castle, Marei has recently been added to the staff’s priority list, especially following the collapse of negotiations to renew the contract of veteran Rami Rabia.
Talks between Rabia and the board have stalled for over two weeks due to major financial disagreements. The club reportedly offered an annual salary of 20 million Egyptian pounds, while the player is demanding 35 million, creating a gap that is hard to bridge.

The same source reports that serious talks have taken place between Al-Ahly and Marei. The player, along with his father—a well-known agent in football circles—have given the green light to join the club.
Negotiations have reached an advanced stage and are being led directly by Mahmoud El-Khatib, chairman of Al-Ahly’s board of directors, in collaboration with Pharco’s management.
The source concluded: “Pharco is asking for 40 million pounds, while Al-Ahly is offering 30 million, payable in several installments. An agreement is expected, given how pressing the Red and White’s need for a defensive reinforcement truly is.”
