Youssef En-Nesyri silent in front of goal for two months
Since March 2, 2025, the date of his last goal against Antalyaspor, Youssef En-Nesyri has not found the back of the net. This series of matches without scoring contrasts with his performance during the first part of this season, where he delivered spectacular performances and totaled 26 goals across all competitions.
An electrifying first half of the season
Arriving at Fenerbahçe in July 2024 from FC Sevilla, En-Nesyri quickly became a key element of the Istanbul attack. After a period of adaptation, he delivered impressive performances. From August to December 2024, he already had 9 goals. The former Sevilla player then started 2025 as a goal machine: 17 goals in January-February, including four braces in the Turkish Cup and league. His brace against Kasimpasa on February 16 thrust him into discussions for the world top scorer title. With 26 goals and 4 assists in 40 matches across all competitions, he seemed untouchable.
Total drought since late February
But everything changed at the beginning of March. While he was in second place in the IFFHS top scorers ranking for 2025, En-Nesyri has not scored a single goal since. No goals, despite several starts and substitute appearances. Initially, this drop in form was attributed to Ramadan, which seemed to have significantly impacted the 27-year-old player.
"En-Nesyri scored 26 goals without taking penalties. He went through a challenging period during Ramadan, where he lost some of his form, but he is starting to get back to his best. He has proven that he is regaining his physical condition. He will play a key role in the remaining seven matches of the season, without a doubt," said José Mourinho at the beginning of this month.
But since this statement from Fenerbahçe's coach, no change has been observed up to this day (April 29, 2025). Fenerbahçe, fighting for the title against Galatasaray, could suffer from this dip in form. En-Nesyri and his club currently occupy 2nd place in the standings, 5 points behind the leader, Galatasaray. Coach José Mourinho is trying to stay calm in the face of this slump from his top scorer and refuses to panic.
En-Nesyri on the move this summer? Rumors swirling...
The inconsistent performances haven't affected the Moroccan's market value. His overall statistics remain impressive. Rumors suggest that Al-Nassr and West Ham are in the running to sign Youssef En-Nesyri. Under contract until 2026, could he leave Turkey a bit earlier? Can we expect to see the En-Nesyri of the first half of the season before the end of the 2024/2025 campaign? Stay tuned...
