The Italian club Como has suffered a significant blow ahead of their upcoming match, scheduled for this Sunday against Genoa, with the confirmation of the unavailability of Assane Diao (19 years old), a young Senegalese talent, for the rest of the season.

According to reliable Italian sources such as Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, the new Senegalese international sustained a stress fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot during Wednesday's training session.

Medical estimates suggest an absence of up to two months, which means the end of his 2024-2025 campaign with the Lombard club.

A key figure in the squad led by Spanish coach Cesc Fàbregas, Diao is expected to undergo surgery soon before starting a rehabilitation program, aiming to return in full form for the start of the next season.

Although Como has distanced itself from the relegation zone, currently occupying the twelfth place in Serie A with 39 points, the absence of their star striker is a significant loss for the last five matches of the championship against Genoa, Parma, Cagliari, Hellas Verona, and Inter Milan.

Tied to Como until 2029, Assane Diao has played 15 matches across all competitions this season, scoring 8 goals and providing one assist.
