2026 World Cup: César Yanis, the shortest player of the tournament
While Florian Wiegele stands tall as the tournament’s tallest player at 2.05 meters, the shortest at the World Cup is César Yanis.
The Panama winger measures just 1.60 meters, edging out Curaçao striker Jeremy Antonisse (1.64 meters). He will compete in Group L alongside Ghana, Croatia, and England.

For the record, Yanis will face Burn during Panama vs. England in the third round of Group L. There will be a staggering 41 centimeters between the two opponents.

This will break the record for the biggest height difference between two players in World Cup history: the previous mark was 39 centimeters, set between Serbia and Montenegro’s Nikola Žigić and Ivorian Bakary Koné at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
César Yanis currently plays for Chilean club Cobresal, on loan from Costa Rican side San Carlos. He has featured in 13 matches, providing 13 assists.
Panama has only appeared in one World Cup final phase. After their historic debut in Russia 2018, where they failed to win a match, the North American side is gearing up for a return to the tournament in 2026.
