The scheduled match between France and Iraq in this 2026 World Cup, set for tonight in Philadelphia, is under threat.

A major thunderstorm is looming over Lincoln Financial Field. "A severe storm is approaching," read the message displayed on the stadium screens, warning spectators.

Heavy rain is currently pelting the pitch, just three hours before kickoff. According to beIN Sports, the match is not expected to be delayed, and the rain could even subside just before the opening whistle. The brunt of the storm may actually arrive at the end of the match.

It should be noted that, according to RMC Sport, the entry of fans into the stands has indeed been delayed.
