2026 World Cup - Germany: Lothar Matthäus pushes for Manuel Neuer

Although retired from international football since 2024, Manuel Neuer remains at the center of debate in Germany just weeks before the 2026 World Cup.

Speaking to Sky Sport, Lothar Matthäus discussed the severely strained relationship between the Bayern goalkeeper and Julian Nagelsmann. "The connection between Nagelsmann and Neuer is broken. The biggest task for Rudi Völler is fixing that. Maybe he alone can still work a miracle. A call from him could really make a difference." he said.
