Trusting La Fabrica: How Alvaro Arbeloa is rebuilding Fulham with a €50M Real Madrid swoop

Fulham have officially announced the double signing of forward Gonzalo Garcia and midfielder Cesar Palacios from Real Madrid, with both players agreeing to 5 year contracts.

A club-record deal for Garcia

The headline arrival is 22 year old attacker Gonzalo Garcia who joins the Premier League outfit for a fee of €40 million (£34 million). This significant investment equals the London club’s all time transfer record matching the exact figure paid to Shakhtar Donetsk for Brazilian winger Kevin last summer.

Garcia arrives in England following a highly productive season in Spain. The forward made 39 appearance for Real Madrid across all competitions last term registering 8 goals.

His consistent club form was recently rewarded on the international stage where he earned his first senior cap for the Spain national team in June.

"I am very grateful and very happy to be here. I would like to thank the board and Arbeloa for their trust in me and I am very excited to start my journey with the team" Garcia said in a statement released on the club's official website.

Palacios adds midfield reinforcement

Alongside the record equalling move for Garcia, Fulham have also secured the services of 21 year old midfielder Cesar Palacios for an additional €10 million.

The double transfer highlights a clear and targeted recruitment strategy under the club's new leadership.

The €50 million combined investment in Garcia and Palacios represents a major statement of intent from the Fulham board. It also clearly underscores the immediate influence of their new manager, Alvaro Arbeloa.
