The president of the Ecuadorian Football Federation, Francisco Egas, has revealed that his national team is seriously considering organizing a friendly match against Morocco during the March international break, as part of preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

He explained that the preparation schedule includes two matches: the first, already confirmed, against the Netherlands, while talks are ongoing to finalize a second clash with the Atlas Lions.

For now, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation has not issued any official statement on the matter.

Meanwhile, Ecuador’s head coach Sebastián Becaccece has confirmed that negotiations with the Moroccan side are advancing significantly.

He also emphasized that this test against Morocco is part of a drive to face top-level opposition ahead of the World Cup.

It’s also worth recalling that the 2026 World Cup draw placed Morocco in Group C alongside Brazil, Haiti, and Scotland, while Ecuador will compete in Group E with Germany, Ivory Coast, and Curaçao.
