Following Paraguay's qualification for the round of 16 at this 2026 World Cup at the expense of Germany (1-1, 4-3 on penalties), the nation is in celebration.

Indeed, President Santiago Peña has declared Tuesday, June 30 a public holiday throughout the country, through a statement published on social media.

"Today, an entire nation is celebrating. We celebrate the victory of a team that embodies the deepest parts of our identity: fighting spirit, faith, and the strength of a people who never give up. Thank you, Albirroja, for giving us this immense joy and for bringing millions of Paraguayans together again under one flag," announced the president.

Four days earlier, the president of Ecuador had also declared a public holiday, after La Tri's victory over Germany (2-1).
