2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers: Anthony Da Silva unveils his first squad as head coach of the Mali

We’ve been waiting for this since his appointment last June. Anthony Da Silva has finally unveiled his very first squad as head coach of the Mali national team. The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and a high-profile friendly against Tunisia are on the agenda.

Four new faces in the squad

For this fresh start, Da Silva has chosen to make a bold move. Four players will be making their international debuts: Adama Camara, Émile Doucouré, Almamy Gori and Ange Tia. These fresh faces bring a breath of fresh air to the Malian squad.

Bissouma absent, but the key players are there

The big name missing from this squad is captain Yves Bissouma. Currently without a club, he has not been selected by the new coach. But otherwise, the backbone of the team is very much in place. We find El Bilal Touré, as eagerly anticipated as ever, Lassine Sinayoko, who is currently in fine form with Paris FC, and goalkeeper Djigui Diarra, ever-reliable in goal.

A busy schedule already for the Eagles

Mali will have their work cut out for them during the September–October international window. The Eagles kick off their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers straight away, hosting Cape Verde on 25 September, followed by a tricky away trip to Liberia on 29 September for the qualifiers. They will round off the window with a tough test against Tunisia in a friendly on 3 October.
