A historic achievement: Pyramids qualify for the CAF Champions League final for the first time in th
Egypt's Pyramids FC achieved an unprecedented feat in its sporting history, reaching the final of the CAF Champions League after beating South Africa's Orlando Pirates in the second leg in Egypt.
What happened?
After a goalless draw in the first leg, Pyramids FC's Croatian coach did what was expected of him and they managed to qualify in the second leg after a goalless draw in the first leg at Orlando Pirates Stadium.
After the game started with the home side under pressure, Pyramids FC were unable to find the back of the net. Orlando Pirates' Rilipohle Mofokeng scored in the 42nd minute, after a defensive error by Mohamed Hamdy, to end the first half on a sour note for the Egyptian side.
But Pyramids responded quickly, with Feston Mailly equalising in the first minute of injury time, after following Mustafa Fathy's cross.
After Orlando Pirates took the lead in the 52 minute with a rocket shot, Krunislav Juršić's side did not give up and Ramadan Sobhi scored the equaliser in the 57th minute.
Historic moment from star player Veston Miley
The moment of history came when the Congolese took the lead in the 84th minute against the Buccaneers, who looked shaky in the second half, and after Mamelodi Sundowns drew 1-1 with Al Ahly in Cairo, Mamelodi Sundowns will meet Pyramids FC in the final.
