Adly El Keiy: “Pyramids FC, Not Zamalek, Are Al Ahly’s Real Rivals Now”

Former Al Ahly Football Company president Adly El Keiy believes the real football competition in Egypt's now between Al Ahly & Pyramids FC not with Zamalek.

In televised interview, El Keiy dismissed Zamalek officials repeated claims of bias and unfair treatment, saying:

“Zamalek officials once blamed referees, now they blame our dominance. What do they want? for us to give up titles?”

He emphasized that Al Ahly’s consistency in winning titles isn’t new pointing out:

“History shows zamalek rarely wins back to back titles unlike Al Ahly”

"Zamalek Officials Should Fix Their Club"

El Keiy expressed disbelief at statements from Zamalek board members accusing them of distracting from their club’s internal issues instead of working to improve.

He also responded to Nayera El Ahmar’s remarks regarding transfers claiming:

Al Ahly secured Yehia El Deraa before Zamalek. Your club lured Hassan Kaddah with national team pressure despite his deal with Al Ahly. Similar tactics were used in the Mohamed Adlan case despite Al Ahly already obtaining his release.

“Zamalek Signs Our Players Too”

He listed multiple examples of zamalek recruiting former Al Ahly players in volleyball, basketball and football:

“Zamalek’s women’s volleyball team's 6 former Al Ahly players. Their basketball team includes exAhly men. even their football titles were won using former Al Ahly stars like Gamal Abdel Hamid and the Hassan twins”

He defended Al Ahly’s recent signings of Emam Ashour & Achraf Bencharki stating they were free transfers and criticized claims of poaching.

Sponsorship, Not Sympathy

El Keiy emphasized that Al Ahly earns higher sponsorship deals simply because of its massive popularity not state favoritism:

“If Zamalek truly has more fans as they claim, why don’t they attract bigger deals?”

He warned that recent remarks from Hesham Nasr, Zamalek's vice president accusing the state of bias, were dangerous & unfounded.

Finally he touched on the club’s development goals:

“Our success in securing support for infrastructure projects like the new stadium's based on planning and popularity not favoritism”

Summary

El Keiy made it clear:

  • Zamalek should focus on internal improvements not accusations.
  • Pyramids FC's the new true rival.
  • Allegations of state favoritism are baseless.
