DR Congo’s players and coaching staff have been awarded exceptional state bonuses after securing a historic place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup ending 52 year absence from the global stage.

President Félix Tshisekedi announced the rewards as part of a national celebration of the team’s achievement.

State rewards for a historic milestone

In recognition of their qualification, every member of the squad and technical staff will receive a new Jeep vehicle, financial bonuses and large plots of land.

The announcement was made directly by President Tshisekedi who praised the team’s commitment throughout the qualification campaign.

The rewards reflect the significance of the moment for Congolese football, with the national team returning to the World Cup for first time in more than five decades.

Nationwide celebrations across DR Congo

The announcement triggered widespread celebrations across the country, with fans taking to the streets to mark the achievement.

“A victory for the entire nation”

President Tshisekedi described the achievement as unifying moment for the country highlighting the symbolic weight of the team’s journey.

“This is more than football; it is a victory for the entire nation” he said commending the players for their resilience and determination during the qualifiers.

DR Congo have been drawn in Group 11 alongside Portugal, Uzbekistan and Colombia setting up challenging but highly anticipated return to the world stage.
