Algeria: new coach for Mohamed Amoura! (official)
Mohamed Amoura can finally breathe a sigh of relief. In the middle of a training camp with the Algerian national team, the VfL Wolfsburg striker learned about the dismissal of his coach Paul Simonis, with whom relations had become particularly strained over the past few weeks. The German club officially announced, via a press release, the immediate termination of the Dutch manager’s contract due to disastrous results: only eight points from ten matches and already six defeats in the league.
A new era for Amoura at Wolfsburg
Simonis, who arrived this summer with high ambitions, never managed to make his mark or unite the dressing room. Worse still, his repeated criticism of Mohamed Amoura’s explosive style took many by surprise, with the manager sometimes calling his striker “too instinctive” and “not disciplined enough.” Many considered these remarks unfair in light of Amoura’s performances, as he is the top African scorer in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with ten goals.
Now, Daniel Bauer, former U19 coach, takes charge of the first team until further notice. This change could offer a fresh start to the Algerian international, who has already delivered convincing displays despite the challenging context. Wolfsburg fans hope this turning point will allow Amoura to fully showcase his talent and once again become the feared attacking weapon he is for the national team.
