Manchester City are considering alternative plans in case the Elliot Anderson deal falls through!
Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca is set to receive a significant addition to his midfield, regardless of how current transfer talks unfold.
According to trusted transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who shared the update via his X account, City's hierarchy remains locked in discussions with Nottingham Forest over 21-year-old central midfielder Elliot Anderson. The promising youngster has emerged as a primary target for the reigning Premier League champions.
But the club isn't putting all its eggs in one basket. Should negotiations with Forest stall, City have already lined up a high-caliber alternative.
That backup plan is none other than Newcastle United's Sandro Tonali. The 26-year-old Italian midfielder, known for his composure and technical ability, is now being viewed as the leading contingency option. If a deal for Anderson proves too difficult to finalize, the club will pivot its focus entirely to bringing Tonali on board.
As for Nottingham Forest, while they're not completely shutting the door on Anderson's departure, they've made their stance clear: any interested club—City included—will have to part with no less than £100 million to secure the young midfielder's signature.
