Algeria regains its place on the CAF Executive Committee!
On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Algeria regained its place on the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after an eight-year absence. The President of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), Mr. Walid Sadi, was elected as a member of the CAF Executive Committee (Comex) during the 14th Extraordinary General Assembly held in Cairo, Egypt.
This election marks Algeria's return to the leadership of African football and acknowledges the role and commitment of Algerian football on the continental stage.
First reaction from Walid Sadi after his election
In statements to the official FAF website, Walid Sadi expressed gratitude to the Algerian president, the country's high authorities, and the entire sports community in Algeria.
The Algerian Minister of Sports stated on this matter:
“This achievement is the result of a collective effort that reflects our commitment to support the major initiatives undertaken by the country's high authorities for the development of sport and the construction of modern sports infrastructure.”
He added:
“As I have already stated, it was imperative to follow this momentum to restore our country's natural and deserved place.”
He also emphasized:
“What has been achieved today is not a personal success, but a gain for all of Algeria. It confirms that our country is on the right path to strengthening its presence and influence on the international stage.”
Finally, he concluded by affirming:
"I reiterate my commitment to work with determination and responsibility to mobilize all our resources for the development of Algerian and African football. Long live Algeria, may Algeria always remain independent, strong, and victorious!"
