Algerian Cup: LFP sanctions CRB and MCA after the derby
The Disciplinary Commission of the Professional Football League (LFP) has revealed the sanctions following the explosive Algerian Cup quarter-final between CR Belouizdad and MC Alger, a match won by Chabab after extra time (3-2) at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki. The intensity of the game has now spilled over into the disciplinary arena.
Multiple sanctions handed out after the CRB – MCA derby
On the Belouizdad side, several players were penalized for protesting refereeing decisions. Chouaïb Keddad, Hocine Benayada, Farid Chaâl, and Abdelhak Younes Ouassaâ each received a fine of 100,000 dinars. Striker Abdennour Belhocini was handed a two-match suspension after being sent off for dangerous play, in accordance with Article 54 of the disciplinary code.

CR Belouizdad was also hit financially: a 40,000 dinar fine for excessive bookings and an additional 100,000 dinars for the ball boys' inappropriate conduct. On the other side, MC Alger did not escape punishment. Alexis Guendouz, Ayoub Ghazala, and team doctor Djamel Ourdane were each fined 100,000 dinars for protesting the referee's decisions. Furthermore, the commission has decided to keep the case open pending the hearings of Abderaouf Benguit and CRB secretary Nassim Fayçal Malek, who have been summoned for March 9.
