Aliou Cissé, second highest-paid coach in Africa!

After making history with Senegalese football, former Lions coach Aliou Cissé is set to embark on an unprecedented challenge by taking charge of the Libyan national team. The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has banked on his experience to rejuvenate a team in search of renewal.
A significant challenge
Currently ranked 118th in the FIFA Rankings, Libya struggles to make its mark on the continental stage. Absent from the Africa Cup of Nations since 2012 and never qualified for a World Cup, the North African team aspires to return to prominence.
To achieve this, they have enlisted the services of a seasoned technician: winner of the 2022 AFCON and twice a World Cup participant with Senegal, Aliou Cissé boasts an impressive résumé.
A contract matching his ambitions
The agreement between Cissé and the LFF is finalized. The Senegalese technician is expected in Benghazi this Wednesday March 5 to sign a two-year contract, renewable if they qualify for the 2027 AFCON.
To attract him, the Libyan leaders have pulled out all the stops: a monthly salary of 76,000 euros, well above the 46,000 euros he received with Senegal's "Den".
The 48-year-old coach thus becomes the second highest-paid coach in Africa. He is surpassed by the new head of Algeria's Fennecs, Vladimir Petkovic, who earns a staggering 135,000 euros per month.

In addition to managing the first team, Aliou Cissé will be tasked with mentoring the country's young talents. Libya hopes his experience will help build a competitive team in the long term.
It remains to be seen if the native of Ziguinchor can recreate the same chemistry he had with Senegal and restore hope to the Mediterranean Knights.
