Amine Gouiri Not a Fan of Algeria's Historic Striker

The Algerian international Amine Gouiri is not particularly fond of his former teammate Islam Slimani.

He made this known during an interview with the official Ligue 1 account on X.

When asked to choose between the two strikers of the National Team, Baghdad Bounedjah and Islam Slimani, the new Olympian admitted a preference for the former.

A rather surprising choice given that Islam Slimani is the historic scorer for the Fennecs, having netted 46 goals, along with 23 assists, in 102 matches across all competitions.

Is Islam Slimani a finished player?

The former Olympique Lyonnais striker is struggling to regain his optimal form in this 2024-2025 season.

According to consistent sources, he is no longer part of the plans of the Greens' coach, Vladimir Petkovic, who has decided to explore other options for the center-forward position.

A career ending on a sour note for one of the key players in Algeria's successful run between 2018 and 2021.
