AS Monaco: Paul Pogba dreams of the 2026 World Cup with the French national team
Paul Pogba

On Thursday, July 3, Paul Pogba was officially unveiled to the press as AS Monaco's newest signing. During his press conference, the French midfielder of Guinean descent made it clear he's ready to fight his way back into the French national team.

Having signed with AS Monaco for a fresh start, Paul Pogba is dreaming big. The 2018 World Cup champion is aiming to return in time for the 2026 World Cup next June. Speaking at the press conference this Thursday, he laid out the steps he’ll need to take to make his comeback.

"That’s the dream of every French footballer. But there are steps to take. Today, I’m at step one. There are places to earn, there’s a very strong squad, a great team, and it’s up to me to perform and deserve my spot. The first step is to get back on the pitch, play for my team. After that, we’ll see. It’s possible the coach won’t pick me, even if I score 30 goals in the season. First, I have to play, enjoy myself… The French national team would be a dream and a bonus for me.", declared the former Juventus star.

For the record, Paul Pogba's last appearance for Les Bleus dates back to March 29, 2022 (a 5-0 victory over South Africa).
