Astin Mbaye: Future Star of the Lions of Teranga?

Astin Mbaye is 16 years old with a promising future. The young central defender has just signed with AC Milan from the New York Red Bulls academy.

Trained in the United States, he burst onto the scene during youth tournaments. Strong in duels, elegant in distribution, he quickly caught the eyes of scouts. Fast. Powerful. Intuitive. Mbaye also stands out with an impressive game reading and an ability to score from set pieces. With six caps for the U15 US team, and even a goal against Scotland, he proves he can shine under pressure.

But another jersey might be awaiting him. That of the Lions of Teranga. For Austin Mbaye has Senegalese roots. And he has never worn the Lions jersey yet. But if Senegal calls, he might just answer. For now, he will join Milan in June 2025. To learn. To grow. But one day, perhaps, he will make the Senegalese people roar.
