Bafana Bafana to Test New Depth in June Friendlies vs Tanzania and Namibia

South Africa’s national team, Bafana Bafana are set to face Tanzania and Namibia in 2 international friendlies this Jun, as coach Hugo Broos intensifies preparations for the resumption of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
While the South African Football Association SAFA has yet to officially confirm the matches, both fixtures fall within the FIFA designated international window.
According to reports, the matches are scheduled to be played locally with Tanzania up first on Jun 6, followed by clash against Namibia on Jun 10.
No Sundowns Players in June
With Mamelodi Sundowns set to participate in the FIFA club world cup starting June 14 in the United States, Broos's made the call to exclude all Sundowns players from these upcoming fixtures.
This move's designed to let the club focus entirely on preparing for the prestigious tournament.
Testing New Depth
These friendlies will give Broos key opportunity to assess alternative players especially with Bafana currently leading Group C in the qualifiers and riding 16 match unbeaten run.
The tests against Tanzania & Namibia will also serve as preparation for high stakes Sep encounters against Lesotho (Sept 5) & Nigeria.
Busy Road Ahead
South Africa’s world cup qualifier campaign continues in Oct with games against Zimbabwe (Oct 10) & Rwanda (Oct 14) the former to be held in Rwanda due to Zimbabwe’s stadium ban.
In addition a friendly's also being planned for Nov 15 ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, set to begin Dec 22 in Morocco where Bafana will face Egypt, Zimbabwe and Angola in the group stage.
