Bayern Munich: severe injury for Alphonso Davies!
Exclusive
Bayern Munich, current leader of the Bundesliga, has just received terrible news regarding one of its key players, Canadian defender Alphonso Davies. He has been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, which will keep him off the field until the end of the 2024/2025 season.
Alphonso Davies out for several months!
The Bavarian club made this unfortunate announcement on Wednesday, March 26, via a statement published on its official website. According to the announcement, Davies sustained this serious injury while playing for the Canadian national team against the United States in the CONCACAF Nations League, a match that ended in a defeat for the Canadian team (2-1).
The Bayern Munich statement specifies:
“After his return from the Canadian national team, Alphonso Davies was diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He will undergo surgery today and is expected to be out for several months.
Bayern Munich will therefore have to do without him for an extended period.”
The left-back, aged 24, joined Bayern Munich in 2018 at the age of 18, coming from the Vancouver Whitecaps. Recently, he extended his contract with the Bavarian club until 2030, after rumors suggested Real Madrid was interested in his services.
Since his arrival, Davies has played 226 matches with Bayern, scoring 14 goals and providing 34 assists. Unfortunately, he will not be able to participate in the remainder of the season, nor in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place in its new format.
