Bayern plans to sue Canada over Alphonso Davies' injury
The recent injury of Alphonso Davies during an international match with Canada has sparked a strong reaction from Bayern Munich, his current club. The German club is considering legal action against the Canadian Soccer Federation.
On Sunday, March 23, Bayern Munich's left-back and captain of the Canadian national team, suffered a severe injury to his right knee during Canada's 2-1 victory over the United States. This was during the third place match of the CONCACAF Nations League. The injury includes a torn cruciate ligament and cartilage damage, requiring surgery and sidelining Alphonso Davies for an estimated six to eight months.
Bayern Munich has expressed its anger at the handling of Davies' injury by the Canadian federation. Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of the Bavarian club, criticized the decision to play Davies despite previous complaints of fatigue. He particularly condemned the fact that the player was allowed to undertake a 12-hour intercontinental flight without proper medical evaluation. Dreesen described this situation as "medical negligence" and is considering legal action against Canada Soccer.
This injury is a significant blow for Bayern Munich, which will have to do without one of its key players for the remainder of the season, including crucial matches in the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League.
