Bounou: "Al Hilal's goal, to go as far as possible in the Club World Cup!"

Yassine Bounou, goalkeeper for Al Hilal and the Moroccan national team, has confirmed his strong readiness to participate in the first edition of the Club World Cup in its new format, featuring 32 teams, scheduled in the United States between June 15 and July 13, 2025.

In statements made on FIFA's official website, the former Sevilla goalkeeper expressed his great pride in representing Al Hilal, both as a club and as players, in this first edition of the Club World Cup under its new format.

Club World Cup 2025: Bounou sets his sights high with Al Hilal

Bounou stated: "It is an honor for us, at Al Hilal, to participate in this first edition of the Club World Cup. We hope to deliver a performance worthy of our club's reputation."

He added: "Participating in this competition is an exceptional experience for us, especially with global clubs like Real Madrid involved."

He continued: "Our goal is to go as far as possible. As a Moroccan player in this World Cup, my aim is to reach a level I have not yet achieved."

When asked about Al Hilal's chances in a group that includes Real Madrid, Pachuca, and Salzburg, Bounou replied:

"There are no easy matches in modern football, and this obviously applies to the Club World Cup. We want to go as far as possible, and as a Moroccan player in this competition, I aim to reach a level I have not yet achieved."

When asked about the importance of Al Hilal's fan base, he answered:
"We, in the Arab world, fully understand the value of supporters, and we are fully aware of the importance of our fans at Al Hilal, especially in a prestigious competition like the Club World Cup.
You want to reach a wider audience in a tournament of this magnitude. We have supporters on several continents, and our participation in the World Cup is a positive aspect for them."

Finally, regarding the possibility of facing one of the clubs he has previously represented, such as Wydad or Atlético Madrid, Bounou replied, laughing: "In reality, I hope not to face them... but I wish them to achieve great performances and reach their best levels."
